Florida writes for several publications, including the Huffington Post column "Your Startup Life", the New York Times, Fast Company, the Globe & Mail, and Inc. Magazine. She writes a syndicated advice column for Gannett and contributes to Fox News, in addition to other media outlets including, “CNN, MSNBC, NPR, BBC, CBC and shows such as Good Morning America, Charlie Rose, The Colbert Report ... and 60 Minutes,” according to Bloomberg. She has also appeared on The Today Show. In 2011 Florida co-created on the HGTV television series Creative Spaces, which featured the homes and decor of public figures.

In 2013 she released the book Upgrade: Taking Your Work from Ordinary to Extraordinary. The book was based on interviews that she did with expert figures in different fields, including artists, businesspeople, professional athletes, and politicians. A major theme of the book was that Florida believes that failure is something that individuals should embrace and see as a part of life.
