Biography
Raman Mehrzad was born on September 5, 1985 in Tehran, Iran, and moved to Sweden with his family at the age of two. They settled down in Angered outside Gothenburg. After primary school Mehrzad was accepted into Polhemsgymnasiet, a gymnasium in Gothenburg. Here he chose the biology and mathematic approach. Upon graduation from high school, he then applied for the medical program at the University of Gothenburg Sahlgrenska academy medical school, where he got accepted at the age of 18.

In parallel with his medical studies, Mehrzad joined a research team at the institution for Biomedicine at age 19, and pursued four years of laboratory research on the subject of viral replication and infection in humans.
After graduating from Medical School in 2012, Mehrzad accepted to a position in medical residency training system in the United States. As a result, Dr. Mehrzad was simultaneously offered research positions at Massachusetts General Hospital, along with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, both of which are official hospitals of the Harvard Medical School.
He recently graduated in June 2015 from his residency training program at a Tufts University School of Medicine and is currently practicing specialty medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital. In conjunction to his work as a physician, he is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Healthcare leadership at Brown University, and an MBA at Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts.
Medical career
Parallel to his academics he also pursued 4 years of part-time laboratory pre-clinical research After his graduation, Mehrzad was one of very few European medical doctors who was offered a residency training and research position in USA.
In conjunction with his professional occupation as a medical doctor in the specialty area of Internal Medicine, he, in partnership with a San Diego-based online marketing consultancy, has recently created a new website featuring his professional nomenclature (www.doctorraman.com), and is intended to be a comprehensive online resource for Health and Wellness, featuring himself as the featured spokesperson and physician. The website's tagline is "Making Health Simple", and it is indeed Dr. Raman's goal to introduce an easy-to-understand and reputable platform for all the various complex and complicated issues in the genre of medicine, health and wellness.
Research
Mehrzad has published several peer reviewed articles in different scientific journals and has first-authored majority of them.
Mehrzad has done research in various fields including surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, immunology, infection disease and neurology. He has also done research in, technology and pharmacology. Altogether, he is currently the author of 18 peer-reviewed scientific articles, and is the first author in 16 of them.
Mehrzad has presented his research at some of the largest scientific meetings in the world, such as at the American College of Gastroenterology’s annual research meeting, the American College of Cardiology’s annual research meeting, and at the Digestive Disease week.
MVG i allt - Hemligheterna med att få högsta betyg i skolan
At the age of 21 he authored his first book entailed: MVG i allt – Hemligheterna med att få högsta betyg i skolan. This book provides essential advice and study techniques for students who want to achieve top grades. The book was released in December 2007 and almost 10 000 copies were sold in its first week of sale, making it a best-seller. Mehrzad was featured in the news on Swedish national television as well as several daily newspapers. By this time he had also begun giving lectures in different primary and high schools all around the country.
Doktorns recept på ett yngre och friskare liv
His second book Doktorns recept på ett yngre och friskare liv (The Doctor's Prescriptions for a Younger and Healthier Life) was released in October 2009. Mehrzad, together with the plastic surgeon Elisabet Gudmundsdottir, discusses various aspects of improving one's health and looks.
Från förort till framgång
He contributed to the book "Från förort till framgång"("From suburb to success") which was released in February 2011. Mehrzad, together with 25 other entrepreneurs in Sweden collected their biographies into an anthology and released the book as a "pro bono" project were the purpose was to motivate young kids to do something meaningful with their lives as well as teaching them a thing or two on how to approach success from poor conditions.
A i alla ämnen - Den ultimata guiden till högsta betyg
In 2011, Sweden changed its grading system(IG-MVG) to the international system, A-F. With this foundation, Mehrzad was offered a publishing deal with Scandinavia's largest book publishing company, Bonnier Fakta, to release an updated and revised form of his first book, "MVG i allt - Hemligheterna med att få högsta betyg i skolan". The book gives students in upper elementary school and high school all essential tips, study techniques and motivational advice for them to reach success in school with straight A's. The book was released in August 2012 and became a top-seller, reaching number 1 on Sweden's Best-seller list. Mehrzad was, once again, featured on several daily newspapers as well as Swedish national television, Channel 4(TV4 Nyhetsmorgon), with millions of viewers.
Straight A's / A i alla ämnen
Mehrzad is the founder and creator of the mobile application (app) entitled 'Straight A's' (Swedish title: 'A i alla ämnen'). The app was released in December 2013 and is the first mobile app that works as a personal study coach, instructing the user on what, when and how much to study in each course, on a daily basis. The app has a sophisticates algorithmic input function where the user can input their strengths and weaknesses in different course category so the app can tailor different study plans for the individual student. The app has been featured in books, online app marketing platforms and has been recommended by students at MIT.
