Political career
The first-time MLA of MNS party (which itself had contested the assembly elections for the first-time in October 2009) was suspended for 4 years from the assembly on the opening day of the functioning. This suspension was for the unruly protest in the house, opposing Abu Asim Azmi of Samajwadi Party taking the oath in Hindi. It was reported and shown on TV-footage that Ram Kadam slapped and punched Abu Asim Azmi in the house. Three other MLAs of MNS party were also suspended for 4 years. They were Vasant Gite, Ramesh Wanjale and Shishir Shinde. Ramesh Wanjale died due to massive heart attack on Friday, 10 June 2011.
Ram Kadam Left MNS and joined BJP.
Gifting a Mercedes to his underage son
At a time when the people in India were standing in long queues struggling to cope with cash crunch in banks due to Indian 500 and 1000 rupee note demonetisation, the ruling party BJP MLA, Ram Kadam, gave a Mercedes car to his son as a birthday gift. This angered people who questioned his source of funds when he flaunted his expensive gift by putting it on Twitter.
Assaulting a police officer on duty
The assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Mumbai traffic police, Sachin Suryavanshi, was beaten by MLAs Ram Kadam (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) and Kshitij Thakur (Bahujan Vikas Agadhi) on the assembly premises. MLAs were released on bail but the cop was suspended.
