Rajesh Payal Rai (Nepali: राजेश पायल राई) (born 30 September 1975) is a Nepali singer and actor. Referred to in the media as the " Rai is King", he is known as a versatile singer in the Nepali music Industry. . He has done playback singing for more than one thousand Nepali Movies. In addition, he has recorded several private albums such as Darshan Namaste, Rai is King and Syamuna etc. He has sung Japanese and Bhojpuri songs as well. He performed on a worldwide tour and won several musical awards from 1995- 2015.

Childhood
Rajesh Payal Rai born in Khotang district Saramatha Zone East of Nepal. His father is Ratna Rai ( former chief of Khotang District, Ex British Army) and his mother is Sancha Laxi Rai. He has four brothers and one older sister Namita. He grew up in Buipa Khotang.
Musical career
Probably, destined to be a singer, he was praised for his melodious voice and encouraged to continue singing.He took a voice test (Song- Samjhanako Kura Nagara,Lyrics- JG Rai, Music - Shakti Kumar Shrestha ) at his very first attempt and when he was just studying in grade eight.
On his profession he continues to work hard and give better songs to the audience .He has already sung for one hundred eighty nepali movies,setting a new record in the hisory of nepali film industries. Rajesh , who was known as a modern & filmy singer, has also ventured into folk singing with the release of his folk album jadow & jadow-2.
Rajesh had already peoved his versatility in singing in the past 15 years.from light songs like nagbeli nagbeli, malai pani angrejima ,Darshan namaste,Sagar sari to sentimental songs like baiguni raichow mayalu,Timilai roje. Rajesh has fared well in all geners.Young singer Rajeshpayal also exhibits a lot of sincere patriotism through his songs.In the course of performing on stage shows, Rajesh has traveled to Hongkong(16 times) South Korea, Australia ,Singapore, Malaysia,Japan,U.K.,USA and Gulf countries , among others, to perform for the Nepali,diaspore, he also went for a Nepal tour singing in all 14 zones.
