History

Geographically, Rajasthan is the biggest state in the Country. It is a land of brave warriors and legendary figures and the arts and culture of Rajasthan are widespread in different parts of the world. Rajasthan is a forerunner in many fields but is lagging behind in the field of Rajasthani Cinema. There was a time when Rajasthani Cinema was very well known and famous Bollywood actors and actress exhibited their talent in Rajasthani cinema. In 2001 Jagmohan Mundra’s film ‘Bawandar’ won many International awards but since then the progress of Rajasthani Cinema has slowed down, which is a matter of concern.

"Kanchan cassettes & series" initiated Rajasthan Film Festival on 28 September 2013 which is achieving great heights day by day. Since 2013, Rajasthan Cinema is progressive and many good films are being made. After organizing the first Rajasthan Film Festival, Rajasthani film-makers and Artists are also excited because their hard work is appreciated by jury and they are getting recognition among general public.

The Award ceremony has expanded from a one-night event to a two-day event, hosting various events and activities related to the Rajasthani Cinema.

A day before the award ceremony a special discussion is conducted on the condition and direction of Rajasthani cinema.
