R. Raghuraj is an Indian film director who has worked on Tamil, Telugu and Kannada language films. After beginning his career in Tamil films, Raghuraj has experienced more success in Telugu and Kannada films.

Career

Raghuraj began his career as a writer for reputed magazines. Later he showed his passion in photography and became well renowned. He specialized in modelling, nature, wildlife and landscape photography. He never worked as an accomplice to anybody. He debuted as a cinematographer in 'sakthi’ (1997). The film featuring Vineeth and Yuvarani became a hit. Raghuraj then took a sabbatical before re-emerging with his first Telugu film Kalusukovalani (2002) which became a box office success. This prompted Raghuraj to remake the film as Ice (2003) in Tamil, with newcomer Ashok and Priyanka Trivedi in the lead roles.

In 2009, Raghuraj revealed that he was working on a trilogy of vigilante films and that Appavi would be the first of the three. Prior to release, the film was reported in the media for producing India's largest flag for a sequence, at 1115 feet. The film eventually had a delayed release in 2011 due it’s political opposition for the strong script.

Boss (2011) happens to be the major Kannada release of the year 2011. Darshan and Navya Nair are the lead pair of the film. This film also features popular Tamil actor Prabhu Ganesan playing the role of a CBI officer. Darshan plays dual role in the movie. A song has been shot in the world's largest Swarovski crystal showroom in Austria. They shot in the underground showroom and it was the first Indian film to have been shot there. Couple of months later Rama Rama Raghurama (2011) was released. The film had Rangayana Raghu in the lead role and it was an absolute entertainer.

In 2014 Namaste Madam was released. Namaste Madam is a drama film and it features Srinagar Kitty, Ragini Dwivedi and Nikesha Patel in the lead roles. The film received applauds from the audience for the screenplay and roles depicted by the director. Director, writer and journalist Raghuraj released yet another kannada movie, ‘Supari Surya’ which had a total production duration of only 75 days.
