Ponduru

Ponduru is a census town in Srikakulam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Ponduru mandal in Srikakulam revenue division. Ponduru is famous for Khadi industry. Freedom fighter Vinobha bhave visited this place in the decade of 1950. Ponduru Khadi industry is one of the 2000 certified khadi industries of India. Many weavers and spinners from this place received best weaver and best spinner award from the Government of India.Women also work in this industry widely in spinning and working on modern charakha . Modern charakha with 8 spindles are used to weave threads. The Ponduru Khadi Industry works under the Mumbai Khadi Industry rules and regulations.
