Piduguralla is a town in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the 12 municipalities in the district. The town is the headquarters of Piduguralla mandal and administered under Gurazala revenue division. The town is also known as Lime City of Andhra Pradesh as there are abundant reserves of lime stone.

Industries

It has around 45 rice mills (par boiled and raw rice), 55 white cement factories, 6 roller mills and 25 poultry grit (limestone) manufacturing units. The place is one of the most industrialized towns in Guntur district. It has around 300 limestone kilns and lime hydrating mills and lots of cotton mills, five paint industries and recently two cold storage units were being constructed. Some 2-5 fly ash brick industries are present. The Surya Cem and Surya Colours is headquartered in Piduguralla and manufacturing is carried out there. There are nearly 15 H.D.P.E / P.P woven sacks stitching companies who supply rice bags to most of rice mills. Not only above mentioned ones there are lot of timber depots. Limestone chips (poultry grit) is essential for making poultry feed. The units around Piduguralla, supply this material to Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Westbengal and Madhya Pradesh. Limestone powder is the raw-material for making of wall putty and paints.

Occupation

The main profession of the people is cultivation and exporting limestone and white cement. The profession is not restricted to limestone, there are several industries like timber depots, hollow brick industries, agriculture based on cereals, rice and groundnut oil, educational institutions, computer institutions, extraction etc. Overall it is one of the most important business places in Guntur district.

Transport

Piduguralla is located in the part of Palnadu around 70 km from Guntur and 240 km from Hyderabad. It is located on the Hyderabad - Chennai National Highway. The mandal is rich with minerals and surrounding villages are green with paddy fields. Most of the people depend on agriculture with fertile lands having abundant water from the Nagarjunasagar canals.

Piduguralla is well connected by bus with Guntur, Vijayawada, Miryalguda, Tirupathi, Karimnagar, Suryapet, Kodad, Warangal, Hyderabad (Dilsukhnagar, Kphb, Ecil, Bhel, Jeedimetla), Narasaraopet and Macherla, VI. It has a well established bus depot that connects villages around the town.

Trains to and from Guntur, Vijayawada, Hyderabad etc., pass via Piduguralla. The Guntur-Nadikudi-Macherla line was converted from meter gauge to broad gauge (under Project Unigauge) and a new line was laid from Bibinagar, near Hyderabad, to Nadikudi. Thus Piduguralla is connected directly to Hyderabad by broad gauge line. Piduguralla is located on the Pagidipalle-Nallapadu section Guntur division of South Central Railway (SCR). The railway Station code for Piduguralla is PGRL. The bus station code is PDRL.
