Pénélope Bagieu, ([penelɔp baʒjø]; born 22 January 1982 Paris), is a French illustrator and comic designer. She became known for her blog BD (webcomic in blog format) My Quite Fascinating Life and went on to create comics such as Joséphine, California Dreamin', and Les Culottées.

Early life

Penelope Bagieu graduated with a baccalauréat in Economic and Social, she spent a year at ESAT Paris, then at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris and then at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. Multimedia and entertainment, where she graduated in December 2006.

Career

She made a short animated film entitled No more laughter.

She also authored illustrations of an advertising campaign for Marie frozen food, on television media, display and Internet.

In September 2008, released the first volume of Josephine, a comic which it ensures itself the texts and illustrations, which portrays a character commissioned by the Femina magazine.

In March 2008, she invented the character Charlotte to launch a new magazine, Oops, each issue has a page about the adventures of this girl sassy at the forefront of verbal and clothing trends, which reviews the salient topics her daily as varied as they are unusual.

For Christmas 2008, she set up the website "O Christmas tree" in partnership with the Red Cross and Orange, with the aim of giving gifts to poor children10.

Since April 2009, she hosted a section on the site where it offers its madmoiZelle.tv shots heart comics vidéo11.

In 2010, she published Exquisite Corpse, her first new graphics for which it is responsible of drawing and scenario. This first album earned her the SNCF Angoulême Festival Prize, in January 2011 and the dBD prize for best humour album.

She participated in the Cannes 2011 festival as a columnist for the Arte channel.

In 2012, she published The White Page Boulet in collaboration with the designer.

In February 2013, the 40th international festival of comics Angoulême, she was named Chevalier of Arts and Letters by the Minister of Culture and Communication, Aurélie Filippetti13.

On June 19, 2013, released the Joséphine film adapted from her comic strip by Agnès Obadia in the title role with Marilou Berry.

In September 2013, she published with Joann Sfar, the first volume of Stars of the Stars. Sfar made the scenario and the Bagieu the drawings.

In November 2013, Penelope Bagieu published on her blog a humorous cartoon mini tape intended to alert the public about the dangers of profond trawling. Inviting thereafter these readers to sign a petition of BLOOM Association, the ticket has raised hundreds of thousands of signatures.

In 2016, Bagieu created the blog BD Les Culottées for Le Monde, which was eventually compiled into two print releases.
