Since Perserikatan (Indonesia amateur football competitions), there have been 69 meetings between the teams. Persija have won 24 and Persib 16, the remaining 28 games finished as draws. The biggest victories have been to Persib who have won 3–0 in Siliwangi Stadium on 24 April 2007. which remains the biggest victory between the two sides overall. Both teams have won 3–0 once.

Football riots often happen between clubs supporters in Indonesia. They are usually armed with sticks, baseball bats, and brass knuckles. It was reported from 2007 until 2016, at least 15 fans died in the stadiums in Indonesia but the Police has never been able to find the suspects. The most famous rivalry is Persib Bandung supporters called Bobotoh Viking and Persija Jakarta's The JakMania. Often supporters from both teams are not allowed to watch the match between both clubs due to possibility of conflict. People from Jakarta are often not allowed to visit Bandung during Persib vs. Persija due to supporters' act that might attack people from Jakarta.

Bobotoh

Persib has the biggest football club fans in Southeast Asia. Persib's supporters are called Bobotoh, which means the ones who supports individuals competing in a competition. There are many big supporter groups, but the most famous groups are Viking Persib Club, Bomber (Bobotoh Maung Bandung Bersatu), The Bomb's and Flowers City Casuals. The number of Persib supporters are estimated to be around 5,3 to 5,5 million all around Indonesia. Although Persib has an acronym of Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Bandung (Indonesian Football Association Bandung), supporters are not only from the city of Bandung. Bobotoh scattered across West Java, from Bogor, Tasikmalaya, Garut, Subang, Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta, Depok, Cianjur, Sukabumi, Cirebon, Kuningan, Majalengka, Indramayu, Pangandaran, Ciamis, Banjar, and also in other region in Indonesia, such as Jakarta, Tangerang, Banten, Bali, East Java, Central Java, Lombok, Sumatra, Kalimantan etc. On Facebook pages, Persib have 9 milion fans.

Viking Persib Club

Viking is the largest supportes group of Persib. Viking is also part of bobotoh founded in 1993.

The Jakmania

The Jakmania is Persija supporter club were established in December 1997. The Jakmania members are spread in all of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and, Bekasi (Jabodetabek).
