Plot Summary
Douglas "Doug" Swieteck is a fourteen-year-old boy living somewhere in New York. After Doug's dad was fired for mouthing off against his boss, Doug and his family moved to Marysville. In Marysville, Doug finds a book with drawings by John James Audubon at the local library. Doug starts to learn how to draw with Mr. Powell, a librarian. Doug also meets a girl named Lillian "Lil" Spicer, who he has a crush on. Doug then receives a job from Lil's dad as a delivery boy. When school starts, Doug is treated disrespectfully because his brother is suspected of recently being involved in a case of theft at a local hardware store.

"Okay for now" was on The New York Times Best Seller list and an Amazon Book of the Year. The book also was a Children's Choice award winner.
