The commune is the planned site of the new Aéroport du Grand Ouest, intended to replace Nantes Atlantique Airport. The €580 million project was approved in February 2008, with construction expected to start in 2012 and an opening date in 2015. But the inhabitants of the area and many people around the country are fighting against the project for ecological and human reasons (for instance, Notre-Dame-Des-Landes is located in an environmentally important area for its wildlife and underground water, and the airport is said to be "useless" by experts because "Nantes Atlantique" works very well). There is currently no specific date to start the construction despite all approvals being there.
