Family and early life

Stirzaker was born in England to South African parents, but was raised in Australia from the age of two. He is one of three brothers and developed his love of Rugby at Knox Grammar School in Sydney.
Rugby career

Stirzaker was a member of the Melbourne Rebels Extended Playing Squad for the 2012 Super Rugby season and subsequently became a member of the senior squad in the 2013 Super Rugby season. In March 2014, he signed a contract extension with the Rebels that would see him play in Melbourne until the end of the 2015 Super Rugby season.

In late 2013, he was released to the Manawatu Turbos playing in the New Zealand ITM Cup, after which he returned to Melbourne to train with the Rebels for 2014 under new coach Tony McGahan. However, he sustained pre-season ankle injury which sidelined him for the start of the 2014 Super Rugby season.
