The New Jersey gubernatorial election of 2017 will take place on November 7, 2017, to elect the Governor of New Jersey. Incumbent Republican Governor Chris Christie, who was re-elected to a second term with 60.3% of the vote in 2013, is term-limited and cannot run for a third consecutive term in office.
Primary elections will take place on June 6, 2017. New Jersey utilizes a semi-closed primary system, meaning that only registered party members may vote in primary elections. However, unaffiliated voters can change their party registration and vote in either party primary on the day of the election.
