Demographics
As of 2001 India census, Nellaya had a population of 32,056 with 15,128 males and 16,928 females. It is home to many legendaries. Among them there are two notable personalities.Dr. Pulakkat Krishna Warrier who rose to the level of PA to the then Surgeon General, the top most post an Indian doctor could achieve. Second, Rao Bahadur Appu Nedungadi who founded the well known (erstwhile)Nedungadi Bank. Now the bank is merged with Punjab National Bank.
