Natasha Ramsahai (born in Scarborough, Ontario) is a Canadian meteorologist who currently works as the 6pm News meteorologist at CityNews in Toronto. She earned an honours B.Sc in Environmental Science at University of Toronto Scarborough in 1998. She then went on to earn her masters degree in Earth and Space Science (Meteorology) from York University in 2001.

Previously, she worked at CBLT's CBC News at Six from 2005 to 2007 and at CBC News Network until February 2011. She also worked as a behind the scenes operational forecaster for Canada's The Weather Network (1999-2001) , and she provided weather forecasts on CBC Radio One's morning show, Metro Morning (2002) in Toronto and at Toronto 1 (2003).

Natasha was not only the first meteorologist ever hired by the CBC, she was also the first female on-air meteorologist in the city of Toronto starting in 1999.

She was born to Indo-Caribbean parents from Trinidad.

Ramshai was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. Even at a young age, she was already interested in a career in weather reporting and broadcast journalism.

At 15 years old, she job-shadowed a TV weatherman at CityTV. She then spent two years working as a campus radio host at the University of Toronto for a hip-hop and reggae show. She also had a summer internship at The Weather Network, where she became an Operational Meteorologist and Briefer, and eventually, On-air Meteorologist.

Ramshai earned her accreditation from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.

As of January 2023, Ramsahai was promoted to Chief Meteorologist at CityNews Toronto. She is the first person of color in all of Canada to earn this position. As Chief Meteorologist, her role includes more directorial duties in graphics, mentorship, multimedia presentation, and research and development. Previously, she served as an On-air Meteorologist for the news channel.

Ramshai and her colleagues publicly celebrated the promotion on “Breakfast Television”. In the feature, the meteorologist mentioned that she aims to use this role to initiate mentorship for scientists, women, and kids from racialized backgrounds.

She was previously one of the Senior Meteorologists at CBC News Network and played a central role in creating the CBC National Weather Centre. There, she covered local, national, and international news. She also did weather reports broadcasted in Canadian airports to assist travelers.

In Spring 2021, Ramshai shared a hopeful message to Faculty of Science graduates from her alma mater, York University. She delivered a message assuring graduates of their potential, the importance of proving people wrong, and their ability to make a difference: “You are going to make a difference in this world. You are going to do whatever it is you put your mind to.”

In 2022, Ramshai got engaged to and married Dr. Vidoll Regisford, a consulting specialist for public and private organizations.

As of February 2023, it is still unknown why she separated from her previous husband, Michael Whing. She has two children, a son and a daughter, from her previous marriage.

Volunteerism

Ramshai has spent time volunteering for several organizations, including Habitat For Humanity, Easter Seals Ontario, and Harmony Movement.
