Nachhatar Singh Chhatta (18 June 1959 - 7 May 1992) commonly known by his stage name Nachhatar Chhatta (ਨਛੱਤਰ ਛੱਤਾ) was a popular Punjabi singer, Chhatta is regarded as one of the best high note Singer Punjab has ever produced.

His music was heavily influenced by the Punjabi village life he was surrounded by growing up. He commonly known for his high scale sad hits. But ''Rut Peyar Di'' was that song which makes him star in 80s era. His best-known hits include ''Fikka Rang Ajj Di Dupehr Da'' - '' Tenu Bhuleya Ni Janda'' - 'Tu Pardes'

Early life and career
Nachhatar Chhatta was born on 18 June 1959 in the village of Adampura ,Dist. Bathinda (Punjab). He was born into a poor family. the Elder child of Sudagar Singh( ਸੁਦਾਗਰ ਸਿੰਘ) & Amar Kaur(ਅਮਰ ਕੌਰ) he use to sing when he grazed cattle in his childhood . because of poor family he can't get enough study. at the early life he did act of Pooran Bhagat in plays as same as another punjabi Legend Singer Amar Singh Chamkila . but he was listening to Mohamad Sadiq more than others in childhood.
Rise to Fame
One day in Burj Rajgarh Tournament he sung his first Song on stage ''Chaar Din Zindgi de Rakhi Saamb Ke''(‘ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਰੱਖੀਂ ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ’) after that he become little popular in Songwriters & Singers at that place. after listening of that song Master Gurbaksh Singh Albela become Chhatta's key of success in Punjabi music industry.
Along with lok sangeet mandli bhadaur He Recorded his first 2 songs in collaborated album of 13 songs.
including Master Gurbaksh Singh Albela he sung many songs of other songwriters like - Keval Bhadaur , Geeta Deyalpuria , Balwant Khana in his career
But in 1987 when it comes to his Super Hit Album ''Rut Peyar Di'' (‘ਰੁੱਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ) with the label of Payal Company. He becomes very popular in youth of 80s Punjab. his songs were usually played on everywhere in Punjab in that era , He is the rising star of Punjabi Singing
Legacy
Once Punjabi Legend King of Kaliyaan ''Kuldeep Manak'' gives his gold chain to Nachhatar Chhatta in Prof. Mohan Singh Mela Because he Sung at higher Scale than Legend Kuldeep Manak Ji .
and Badshah(King) of Kaliyaan said that one more Manak is born today in Bathinda.
Death
he had one weakness of heavy drinking. and that habit becomes his cause of death .
On 7 May 1992 he takes his last breath but his songs are still alive with his high scale melodious Voice.
