Personal life
N. Cheluvaraya Swamy was born on 1 June 1960 to Shri Narasimhegowda and Smt. Sakamma. He was born in Ijjala-Ghatta, Mandya district, Karnataka, into an agricultural family in a small village in Nagamangala taluk, Cheluvarayaswamy grew up like any other rural India boy. But deep within was a desire to be different, do something different and most importantly to have a purpose in life. Educated initially in the local schools, his high school in Sidda Ganga in Tumkur was a turning point. It exposed him to the outside world and the discipline and dedication one needs to succeed in life was one of the lessons he learnt from the head seer.
Completing his diploma in civil engineering led him to start taking up works as a contractor and this paved the way for his foray into the world of politics. Injustice is something that bothers and awakens the urge to do the right for Cheluvarayaswamy. The existing scenario spurred the young man and he soon was in the forefront of those opposing the notoriety of a few people in Nagamangala.
He is married to Smt. B K Dhanalakshmi and has 2 sons. He has a diploma in Civil Engineering.
Political career
N. Cheluvaraya Swamy was member of Zilla panchayat from 1994 to 1999, he was vice president of it between 1996-1997. Then he was elected to Karnataka Legislative Assembly for two terms between 1999 to 2008. He was cabinet minister of Government of Karnataka. Later, he was elected to 15th Lok Sabha in 2009.
The political career of Cheluvarayaswamy began with being a repesenative on the Chinna Zilla Panchayat constituency in 1994. Then on he has gone onto become a member elect of theMandya district Panchayat, and then the Vice President of the same Pachayat in 1995. Cheluvarayaswamy became a Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in 1999, and retained the constituency in 2004 too. The Congress –Janata coalition government in Karnatakasaw him becoming the Minister for Health and Welfare. The Janata –BJP coalition government in 2006 came into existence and saw him take on the responsibility of Transport Minister.
The National call was heard soon and he was elected as the Member of Parliament from Mandya. With varied experience both at the local, regional and national level and both as part of the government and the opposition, Cheluvarayaswamy has harnessed the experience to bring in new lease of life to the people of Nagamangala and has tirelessly worked for their upliftment.
