Munting Heredera is a Filipino family-oriented drama series created and developed by Maryo J. de los Reyes for GMA Network. Playing the lead role of Doña Anastacia, a rich widow in search of her "munting heredera", is the multi-award-winning actress and one of the original Queens of Philippine cinema, Gloria Romero, making her television debut. The show was first shown on May 9, 2011, replacing Dwarfina on GMA Network and on May 11, 2011, on GMA Pinoy TV.

Worldwide, via GMA Pinoy TV, the quality of the picture is much finer but is still at 480i, though digitally mastered.

The series was extended for five weeks more than its original plan, but after one week the show was extended again for an additional five weeks for the second time. A third extension of 10 weeks was made.

Synopsis

Doña Anastacia (or simply "Ana"), a rich widowed businesswoman and a loving grandmother, is searching for her rightful heiress. Three young women, Jennifer, Michelle and Calila, born and raised in different ways and each with a distinct story of their own, claim to be the one she is looking for. In the end, fate will lead the true heiress to where she belongs and to claim what is rightfully hers.

  • The original cast included Carmina Villaroel in the role of Sandra/Susan, but due to a schedule conflict, (she had three other shows on the network) she turned down the project. After Carmina turned down the role, actress Camille Prats (who recently completed playing antagonist role in Bantatay), finally join the cast.
  • As well from Carmina, Kristoffer Martin and Joyce Ching both left their program, after their death scenes, since the said tandem. They conflict to rush-up for Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin.

  • The main theme song, "Ang Aking Munting Bituin" ("My Little Star") is sung by La Diva. It was originally performed by Gary Valenciano and used as the official theme song of the 2003 film, Magnifico. Lyrics are by Rollie Navarro and music by Gary Valenciano and Joy Nilo.
  • The love scenes' theme song, "Sa Isip Ko" is performed by Rachelle Ann Go. It was originally performed by Agot Isidro and revived by Jay R and Sarah Geronimo. The theme song was later revived by Juris Fernandez and used as one of the theme songs of the ABS-CBN teleserye Ina Kapatid Anak
  • Mexican remake

    In 2016, Munting Heredera, is slated to have an adaptation in Mexico, marking the first GMA drama series that adopted in a Latin country. The planned remake will be produced by Telefilm Atlantico S.A., also they acquired the program's format and plot thru GMA Worldwide Inc’s (GWI) license agent based in South America, Latin Media Corporation.
