Malhotra started his career with the reality show Spitsvilla 2 and appeared in Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke and Sasural Genda Phool soon after. He acted in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain as Kartik Sharma and left the show in September 2012. Malhotra had a lead role in Kya Hua Tera Vaada as Vihaan Ruia. Later, he joined the dance reality show India's Dancing Superstar as host. He was also a part of Bindass Mentals. In 2014, he was cast in an episodic of Yeh Hai Aashiqui as MaK. In 2014 he was cast as Zubair Qureshi in Beintehaa, and in 2015 he was seen as Yash Mehra in Zee TV's Jamai Raja. Currently, he portrays Abhishek Awasthi on &TV's Chupke Chupke.
