Station

All Mikuni Awara Line trains serve Mikuni-Minato Station. The station is unstaffed, but there is a waiting area inside the wooden station building.

  • To the south lies the mouth of the Kuzuryū River, which empties into the Sea of Japan. The port of Mikuni and some beaches are also nearby.

  • History

  • July 1, 1914: Station opens as a JGR (later JNR) freight terminal.
  • December 15, 1927: Regular passenger operations begin.
  • October 11, 1944: JGR operations cease; Keifuku Electric Railway reopens the station as the terminus of the Mikuni Awara Line. Station continues as a JGR freight terminal.
  • March 1, 1972: JNR station closed.
  • 1981: Station becomes unstaffed.
  • June 25, 2001: Operations halted due to accident on the Echizen Main Line.
  • August 10, 2003: Station reopens as an Echizen Railway station.
