Metatelmatherium is a genus of brontothere (includes horses, rhinos, and tapirs) endemic to North America during the Eocene living from 46.2—33.9 mya, existing for approximately 12.3 million years.

Taxonomy

Metatelmatherium was named by Granger and Gregory (1943). It was assigned to Brontotheriidae by Granger and Gregory (1943) and Carroll (1988).

Morphology

A single specimen was examined by M. Mendoza for body mass and was estimated to have a weight of 134.3 kg (300 lb).
