Duchesneodus is a large brontothere endemic to North America during the Eocene living from 46.2—38 mya, existing for approximately 8.2 million years.

Taxonomy
Duchesneodus was named by Lucas and Schoch (1982). It was assigned to Brontotheriidae by Lucas and Schoch (1982) and Carroll (1988); and to Brontotheriinae by Mader (1998).
Morphology
Two specimens were examined by M. Mendoza for body mass The first specimen was estimated to have a weight of 215.7 kg (480 lb). The second was estimated to have a weight of 607 kg (1,300 lb).
