In 2012, director Bernardo Bertolucci adapted the novel into a film of the same name. Since the novel served as a screenplay for the movie, Ammaniti was nominated for Best Screenplay at the 2013 David di Donatello awards and Best Screenplay at the 2013 Italian Golden Globe.
Plot
Lying to his parents, an introverted teenager named Lorenzo planned to spend a week in the basement, but there he will meet his unknown sister.
