Career

Markantonio began DJing at fifteen years old and, within four years, had begun playing in the late 1990s clubs of Naples. He soon started producing the same kind of House, Acid and Techno he was playing in clubs and, in 1999, his debut EP 'Fried Mix' came out. Then came 'Appendix A' on Southsoul Appendix and many more records; in the beginning mainly high BPM, ravey tracks and over the years more melodic, deeper styles of techno. These releases led to appearances at events such as Awakenings (Netherlands), Sonus (Croatia), Monegros (Spain), Cielo (USA), Amnesia (Ibiza), Crobar (Argentina), the Gashoulder (Netherlands), playing alongside the likes of Rino Cerrone, Paco Osuna, Valentino Kanzyani, The Advent, Ignition Technician and Davide Squillace.

He is known for the dynamism and layering of his DJ performances, where he is often juggling tracks and loops across three or four decks and using the mixer’s EQs and filters like an instrument. His multiple sets on BE-AT.TV or on Boiler Room are examples.

His discography now counts 50 releases, with appearances on labels including Adam Beyer's Drumcode, Sleaze, Alchemy and Tortured. He has collaborated with Joseph Capriati on ‘Molotov’, with Rino Cerrone on the Junction Hands project for Drumcode and both of them together on a live show called Neapolitan Gangsta. Markantonio has also remixed tracks by artists including Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot, Christian Varela and Deepgroove & Jamie Anderson. In 2015 came Markantonio's debut album 'Musichemistry' on Analytic Trail, a 15 track record that represented the various styles he had explored in the 20 years previous.

Now with over 75 releases under its belt, his label Analytic Trail has been consistently supplying Italian techno since it began in 2001. It has unearthed up-and-coming artists - Joseph Capriati, for example - and also provided a platform for many of his friends in the industry to release music. Rino Cerrone, Paco Osuna, Joseph Capriati, Luigi Madonna, Davide Squillace and important international techno artists like Jesper Dahlback and Cari Lekebusch are all part of the roster. Markantonio's second label MKT started as the home for his more experimental, forward-thinking releases and grew to involve other artists under the same concept.
