Marcus John Hudson Fysh (born 1970) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Yeovil and the nearby towns and villages in South Somerset since the 2015 general election.

Career

Fysh is from a medical family with a background in business and investment, finance and economics, and was educated at Winchester College and Corpus Christi College, Oxford. Prior to his election he ran companies in the agriculture and healthcare sectors, after working for Mercury Asset Management specialising in investment in businesses in the Asia Pacific region.

He was a District Councillor on South Somerset District Council representing Yeovil South, and in 2013 was elected to represent the Coker division of Somerset County Council. He was elected as Member of Parliament for the Yeovil constituency on 8 May 2015.

During the 2015 Parliament Fysh has been a Member of the House of Commons Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Select Committee, and an inaugural member of the House of Commons International Trade Select Committee.

Fysh has been engaged with the Industry and Parliament Trust programme examining the Defence Manufacturing Industry, and has been a member of All Party Parliamentary Groups for the Armed Forces, for Housing, for County Councils, and for Women Against State Pension Inequality.

Personal life

He lives at Naish Priory, parts of which date from the 14th century, in the village of East Coker. In 2011 he opposed plans by the local council to build additional houses in the area.
