Mani Osai (தமிழ்: மணி ஓசை , English: Bell Sound) is a 1963 Tamil Drama film was directed by P. Madhavan which marked his directorial debut and produced by A. L. Srinivasan under his productions company ALS Productions. The film script were written by Pasumani. Music by Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy assets to the film. The film starring Kalyan Kumar M. R. Radha played lead with R. Muthuraman C. R. Vijayakumari Chittoor V. Nagaiah Nagesh Pushpalatha and Kumari Rukmini played portraying supporting role. The film was inspiration to the famed French Novel writer Victor Hugo's Classic Novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The film was hit at the huge success.

Plot

A egoistic rich man(M. R. Radha) abandons his elder son(Kalyan Kumar) because of his physical imperfections and tell his wife(Kumari Rukmini) that the baby was born dead. He has another son(R. Muthuraman), who leads a lazy life often getting into trouble. He falls in love with his cousin(C. R. Vijayakumari), who is very close to the hunchback treating him like a brother. The hunchback hero sacrifices his all talking the blame for others. He finally restores sight to the hero and dies. That's when the father tells the world that he was his first born.
