The Manchester Village Spartans RUFC is Manchester and Northwest England's gay and inclusive rugby union football team based at Sale Sports Club, Manchester.

Contents

The club is a full and founding member of International Gay Rugby Association and Board (IGRAB), and in 2012 it hosted the Bingham Cup, the international gay and inclusive rugby championship.

Current League

The Manchester Village Spartans has 2 teams currently competing in Northwest Intermediate Rugby Union Leagues as well as a third team who play regular friendly fixtures.

The first team (1XV) compete in Division 3 South and the second team (2XV) in Sale Sharks Division 5 East.

The logo shows a Spartan helmet with a rainbow plume, and the club has the moto Unione Fortior which means strength in union.

Kit

The kit has changed throughout the years and the original kit was a red shirt and black shorts. In 2002 the club adopted a rainbow striped coloured match shirt to reflect the pride colours. This theme has continued throughout the design. In 2012 to celebrate being awarded the 6th Bingham Cup, the club changed to a black shirt with the rainbow colours running down the under arms.

Charitable Status

The Manchester Village Spartans have community amateur sports club (CASC) status, Scheme Number CH10207, a status different from charity status but conveying some of the same benefits.
