History

A section from Teranum to Bentong was constructed in 1915. The original FT8 section from Raub to Bentong via Teranum was bypassed by a more straight super two highway in 1958 in conjunction of the opening of FELDA Lurah Bilut, causing the old, winding section to be re-gazetted as the Federal Route 218.

Features

At most sections, the Federal Route 218 was built under the JKR R5 road standard, allowing maximum speed limit of up to 90 km/h.
