Majdi Allawi (born 18 February 1970 in Jbeil District, Mount Lebanon Governorate) is a Maronite Christian priest converted from Shia Islam and founder of the Bonheur du Ciel Association.

Biography

Father Majdi Allawi was born in a family of Shia Muslim origin, but converted himself to the Maronite Church when he was very young. More later Allawi became a Maronite priest and founded the Bonheur du Ciel Association (in English: Happiness of Heaven), an organization to care drug addicts in Lebanon.
In Bourj Hammoud, Allawi opened the first restaurant to the poors in Lebanon.

In 2014 Pope Francis encouraged Bonheur du Ciel to continue its work by his Secretary of State, Monsignor Peter Wells.
