MKSSS's Cummins College of Engineering for Women (CCOEW) is an engineering college in Pune, Maharashtra, India run by the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha. History

Started in the year 1891 by the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samshta, a 113‑year‑old institution, that has a century long history dedicated to the upliftment of women by educating them and making them self-reliant, it was renamed after Cummins India Foundation gave a substantial donation. CCOEW is affiliated to the University of Pune and also offers technical courses affiliated to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college has been granted academic autonomy from the year 2016-17.The first batch of this college passed out with Bachelor of Engineering degree in July 1995, coinciding with the centenary of the parent institution.

The admissions to Cummins College Of Engineering are based on merit.

  • College follows admission rules laid down by Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra state
  • As per the rule 80% seats of every course are filled by centralized admission procedure. Out of 80% seats, 65% seats are filled on the basis of Maharashtra government entrance exam (MHCET). While 15% seats are filled on the basis of AIEEE score.
  • The reservations for SC (Schedule Caste), ST (Schedule Tribes), NT (Nomadic Tribes), OBC (Other Backward Classes), PH (Physically Handicapped) are based on Government Of India rules
  • 20% seats are filled at institute level
  • Seat distribution as per the intake
  • AICTE & State Govt. has given the approval to start the second shift in existing College from 2010 to 2011.
  • Post Graduation

    College follows admission rules laid down by ‘Director of Technical Education,’ Maharashtra state. Students are admitted on the basis of GATE score or marks obtained at B.E level. For non GATE candidates entrance test will be taken at college level.

    Placements

    The real opportunity for success lies within the person and not in the job. The College has a separate Training and Placement Cell. A Placement Committee consisting of one faculty representing each department decides the guidelines for the placement activity.

    Industrial Training is not mandatory as per University of Pune syllabus. However we encourage the students to go for Industrial Training during vacation especially after third year.

    Sessions are arranged on Resume Writing, Interview Techniques and Aptitude Test. Guest Lectures and Training Programmes are arranged for the students.

  • Some Activities carried out differently in past three years A meet of NASSCOM and T&P Officers of Engineering colleges from Pune was held on 25th Mar. 2009 to explore the possibility of delaying Campus Recruitment by six months.

    The T&P Cell is also an active member of the proposed Federation of Training and Placement Cell of the TPOs from Engineering Colleges in Pune.

    Innovation

    Innovation is a national level technical event of Cummins college of Engineering for Women. It was started in the year 2000. Now with everyone's consistent efforts it has gone so far to be a national event. Innovation is born with the motto of bringing up the best ideas to help technology to revolutionize, ideate and create. Innovation believes in both inspiring and challenging human brain faculty to dig the best ideas and nurture them. Since these are the guiding principles of Innovation, its contents has attracted pilgrims every year not only from Pune or Maharashtra but from all over India. Innovation will always endeavour to continue to use technology to make differences in people's life and work.

    Triz

    The mechanical department of Cummins College in association with SAE India Western zone, hosted the technical event TRIZ for the first time in 2011. This event aims at giving students a chance to exhibit their technical skills and to challenge their innovative brains.

    Pentacle

    Pentacle is a State Level Inter-Collegiate (Engineering) Sports Event. Under this event various sports such as Basket Ball, Football, Chess, Badminton, Kho-kho, Table tennis etc. are played. All these events are held on the samstha playground.

    Entrepreneurship Development Cell

    E-cell is a club for improving the entrepreneurship skills of its members. Various events for improving entrepreneurship skills are conducted throughout the year. It is a part of National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN). The T&P cell has received a grant of Rs. Eight Lacs from DST to start the Entrepreneurship Development Cell. The T&P Cell intends to introduce Entrepreneurship Development Activity on large scale.

    Gandhaar

    This is the college cultural fest. It is held in the second or third week of February and usually is a week-long event. Every year we have a theme for Gandhaar which gives us a valuable message. The themes are chosen to enlighten various art forms like dance, street plays, sports, festival days. Gandhaar is the time when students and teachers can roll up their sleeve and get down on stage to let their talents bloom and accept a challenge.

    Hostel Facilities for students

    The college provides hostel facilities to non-locals. There are four college hostels -

  • Each students gets avail of various facilities in the hostel such as:

  • 24 hours of pure drinking water and water cooler is only in the mess on the first floor whereas rooms are on first, second and third floor respectively.
  • Water for washroom is also available in specific timings 6:30 to 11am Hot and cold water,4 to 7 PM cold water, 10:30 to 12PM cold water.
  • 24 hours electricity supply and generator to be switched on only after 5:30 pm
  • Television in each building for entertainment.
  • A mess in each hostel (Two times meal) and breakfast and snacks to be paid.

  • Around 420 students in baya karve (including all years)
  • Cummins Fellowship Program For Purdue University

    A top graduate of CCOEW is invited by Cummins to apply for Purdue University for acceptance into master's degree Program. Under this program, sponsorship is provided to four students each year, two in Mechanical engineering at Mechancial Engineering School and the remaining two in Computer and Information technology (CIT) at School of Technology at Purdue University.
