Rana M. Hayat Khan MNA


Rana M. [Muhammad] Hayat Khan is an agriculturalist and a politician affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League (N). He was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 1990-1997. He was elected as District Nazim Kasur in 2005. He was the only District Nazim in Pakistan who opposed Gen Musharraf's dictatorship. He was the only person who won the election of District Nazim as a supporter of Pakistan Muslim League (N).

He was elected from NA-142 in the election of 2013 and is now a member of the National Assembly.

Education

Rana Hayat received his early education from Government High School, Bhai Pheru, Kasur and secondary education from Central Model School, Lahore. He completed his Intermediate/Higher Secondary schooling from the Forman Christian College University, Lahore in Arts subjects. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Government College University, Lahore, after which he started his political career from the small town of Bhai Pheru.

Family

Rana M. Hayat Khan belongs to a family of politicians. His uncle Rana Phool Muhammad Khan was elected a Member of Provincial Assemblies on six occasions, initially serving in the Provincial Assembly of West Pakistan (1965–1969) and thereafter in the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 1972–1977, 1977, 1985–1988, 1988–1990 and 1990–1993.

His cousin, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan is the speaker of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since 2013. His brother, Rana Muhammad Ishaq Khan, is a sitting MNA.
