Historical significance
According to legends, Queen Kunka, the wife of King Wenceslaus I of Bohemia, was returning from Červený Hradec (literally the Red Castle, today Hradec Králové, literally the Castle of the Queen), to Prague and abruptly gave birth to Ottokar II of Bohemia, the most powerful king of the Přemyslid Dynasty. Ottokar II rewarded his assumed birth place by an extra lion on their municipal coats of arms and some privileges reserved for royal towns. Since that time, the importance of the town was diminishing, however.
