Construction started in early October 2010. Completion was expected in 2011, however due to underbudgeting for electricity for the railway station the project stalled, delaying the completion of the station.

Lynbrook has two side platforms. It is serviced by Metro Trains' Cranbourne line services.

Platform 1:

Cranbourne line: all stations and limited express services to Flinders Street

Platform 2:

Cranbourne line: all stations and limited express services to Cranbourne
