Lumphinnans is a small community, consisting of no more than half a dozen streets. There are few amenities including a pub, a shop, and a Thai takeaway. The local primary school (Lumphinnans Primary) has many activities as part of its Community Use programme in the evenings.

At the other end of the village, there is Lumphinnans Bowling Club, one of Fife's smaller Bowling Clubs, which was founded in 1909. The club celebrated some success in 2012, winning the WFBA League Third Division and the WFBA William Babb Memorial Trophy.
