Loverealm (styled as LoveRealm) is a niche Christian social networking platform built to connect Christians across the globe. It was founded by brothers Dr. Yaw Ansong Jr. and Dr. Yaw Ansong Snr. The technology company originated from Accra, Ghana and has team members spread across Europe. It is currently in open beta.

Aside ensuring a Christ-centered social network experience, another key feature of this platform is in its mentorship feature where a user is strategically assigned to a proven mentor on sign up whose role is to guide and help the user.

History

The technology company was started by Dr. Yaw Ansong Jnr after what he calls dark moments after he travelled outside his country.

“I was at a point in my life where I was at my lowest; and I realized that I had struggles and weaknesses and all this started when I found myself in an environment outside my country where there was not many Christians. I thought to myself if Christians could connect to each other wherever they are and also have a platform where they could encourage each other then it could go a long way to help them,” said Dr. Ansong to Deutsche Welle.

The pre-launch ceremony of the social network website was done at the Pentecost Students Association (PENSA) conference on the 9th of January 2016. The aim of the pre launch ceremony was to get feedback from randomly selected users before opening up to the world. The initial target was to get a few hundreds of people to test the platform, however this spot was reached within hours and the social network site had to readjust and limit the number to 2000 users to avoid crashing its servers. On 30 August 2016, the social networking company launched a mobile version of their web app in the google play store. Shortly after the mobile app launch, Dr. Yaw Ansong Jnr wrote:

"When we quietly opened up LoveRealm to the public few months ago, I knew we were on to something big, but probably didn’t' expect it this soon. Fast forward today, and I'm sharing the gospel with 22,500 Christians daily on a platform I co-founded"

In the same month, the platform recorded its first 50,000 users which came barely 8 months after opening access to the public.

Controversies

On January 4, 2016, BBC published a story explaining that Ghana was to get a sin-free Facebook. LoveRealm's CEO responded by saying that whilst it was trying to build a holy social network experience, its aim was to build a platform where Christ was the primal focus and not to build a salem of righteous people.
