The list is organised alphabetically by Afghan province and within a province, alphabetically by school name.

According to the Afghan Ministry of Education, there are 16,000 schools across Afghanistan. In May 2013, Afghan Education Minister Ghulam Farooq Wardak stated that another 8,000 schools are required to be constructed for the remaining three million children who are deprived of education.
