The Society of the Sacred Heart was founded in France by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. The schools of the Sacred Heart were brought to the US by Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne, where the association of the schools is known as the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. In addition, there are numerous schools affiliated with or run by the Society of the Sacred Heart around the world.
