Linda Carter Sobell, Ph.D., ABPP, is the President's Distinguished Professor at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is a professor of clinical psychology as well as the co-director of Healthy Lifestyles: Guided Self-Change at Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Linda C. Sobell earned her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California at Irvine. She is well known for her research in the addictions field. Specifically, she has researched brief motivational interventions, self-change, and the Timeline Followback. She has more than 300 published articles/book chapters and has written 8 books. She is a Fellow in the American Psychological Association, a Motivational Interviewing Trainer, and is Board Certified in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology, Affiliate of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
