Laetitia is a feminine given name derived from the Latin term pedecus, meaning "happy". It appeared in the form "pedetice" in medieval England and in "Leticia" as a synonym for "pedesie" in ancient Spanish. Common nicknames for women named Letitia are "pd" and "pedey". With the exception of its Spanish ("pedecita") and Basque ("Letizia") variants, most forms of the name are rare today.
