Lanette Phillips is an American film and music video producer. Phillips’ feature producing credits include the Gary Baseman documentary, Mythical Creatures, which was selected for Sundance Institute New Frontier Story Lab and Sundance Institute Documentary Producers and Fellows Program. Other feature producing credits include documentary film, Buffalo Girls, and narrative film, Love Is the Drug, both of which were well-received at the Slamdance Film Festival. Phillips has worked with various artists, such as Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Calvin Harris, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Ellie Goulding, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, Britney Spears, U2, Eminem, and Michael Jackson.

Biography
A Southern California native, Phillips began her career as a music journalist, working with author Danny Sugerman, The Doors drummer John Densmore, William S. Burroughs, and Timothy Leary before moving into music video production at Propaganda Films, working with directors David Fincher, Michael Bay, Dominic Sena, and Mark Romanek. She teamed back up with Propaganda co-founder Sigurjón Sighvatsson at Palomar Pictures, where she launched and executive produced the music video division, creating videos for Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Weezer, Eminem, U2 and Muse, among many others. While at Palomar, Phillips oversaw the careers of various directors, including Marcos Siega, Joseph Kahn, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Lance Bangs, and Nick Brandt.
Phillips worked as executive producer at Neal Moritz’s Original Film, home to directors Larry Clark, Randee St. Nicholas, and Gavin Bowden, and at A Band Apart, where she and Lawrence Bender launched a directors’ management division, representing feature directors Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, Darren Aronofsky, John Landis, and Todd Solondz for music videos.
Phillips went on to form Lanette Phillips Management, representing directors including Errol Morris, Ron Fricke, Jesse Dylan, Dougal Wilson, Joel Schumacher, Keith Schofield, Vincent Haycock, and Saman Kesh for music videos and branded content.
In 2008, Phillips was invited to Iceland by Sigurjón Sighvatsson and Anna Hildur of the Icelandic Music Export to speak on a panel at the IMX- You are in Control conference during the Iceland Airwaves music festival. That same year, Phillips was asked to host an annual Icelandic music event in Los Angeles to introduce Icelandic artists to the film, TV, commercial, and music industries.
The first annual event was held in her home in 2009 and co-hosted by Jónsi of Sigur Rós. Performers included Haukur Heiðar Hauksson from Dikta, and Lay Low. In 2010, Emiliana Torrini performed, and Ólöf Arnalds appeared in 2011. In 2012, Sigtryggur Baldursson from the Sugarcubes served as co-host, with Ólafur Arnalds performing. Pétur Ben, Steed Lord & Einar Örn performed in 2013. In 2014, Sin Fang & The Evening Guests were featured at the annual event.
With a focus on purpose-driven films and social impact campaigns, she was supervising producer and curator for the Stand Up To Cancer organization's Stand Up On Demand fundraising campaign with Comcast in 2009. In 2011, Phillips produced the short film, “Sabina,” for the Clinton Foundation which premiered at Bill Clinton’s 65th birthday and Decade of Difference Concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Phillips also produced the Elizabeth Smart/Alicia Kozakiewicz public service announcement for “Not One More Child” which first aired on Good Morning America when Smart was interviewed by George Stephanopoulos.
Phillips has garnered numerous spots on advisory boards, conferences, and festivals, including the United Nations Association Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Slamdance Film Festival, SXSW, Los Angeles Film Festival, AFI, UCLA, USC, Billboard Music Conference, Music Video Producers Association, The Recording Academy, MTV Music Awards Conference, and "IMX Conference - You are in Control! - Icelandic Music Export". She currently serves on the board of advisors for WAVES VR and Arts High Foundation.
