La Reina was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. She moved to Germany at the age of five and spent several years there before moving to the United States at the age of eighteen. She attended University of Maryland where she studied communications and design.

Personal life
La Reina was born in Azerbaijan while it was still part of the Soviet Union .She grew up speaking Russian first, then learning German at the age of 5 and learning English at the age of 16. Her father is a famous artist in Eastern Europe and Asia, and her mother is a retired pediatrician. La Reina has a son.
