Kuldeep Joshi lost his eyesight at the age of eight. His father Manshankar Joshi is a physical education teacher, and his mother Sarada Devi is a housewife. He has two brothers: one working in Mumbai, in Pune, the other is studying to be a Chartered Accountant.

As of 2012 he has been a student at Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Handicapped University (JRHU), in the final semester of a Bachelor of Music degree.

Achievement

On 15 April 2012, Joshi started playing the tabla and performing a solo song at 5:00 am in the university auditorium, and continued until 05:00 pm. His teacher Gopal Mishra said that vice chancellor B. Pandey encouraged him, and added that Joshi has been topping his year at the university for the last two years, achieving 80 percent, for which he has received a gold medal in Lucknow. He also said that Joshi is the first handicapped person in India to continuously play the tabla for 12 hours.

Kuldeep's father considered his son's achievement as Asaram Bapu's blessing. Kuldeep said that he will continuously play the tabla for 20 hours in order to register his name in Limca Book of Records, and he will try to register his name in Guinness World Records at Goregaon, Mumbai.
