Demographics
As of 2011 Census of India, the town had a population of 5,686. The total population constitute, 2,815 males, 2,871 females and 732 children, in the age group of 0–6 years. The average literacy rate stands at 65.22% with 3,231 literates, significantly lower than the national average of 73.00%.
Transportation
Seaport
Krishnapatnam Port is a major port situated at a distance of 25 km from Nellore city. Krishnapatnam is one of the very few ports in the world which can handle giant ships with load capacities of 1,50,000 tonnes. It has become one of the deepest port of India with 18 meters of draft.
Roadways
Krishnapatnam Port is connected to the National Highway-16 through a state highway. The authorities have also constructed a dedicated 25 km road to NH-16 and a railway line connecting the Chennai-Howrah broad gauge line near Venkatachalam.
