Kotchandpur (Bengali: কোটচাঁদপুর) is an Upazila of Jhenaidah District in the Division of Khulna, Bangladesh.

Geography
Kotchandpur is located at 23.4000°N 89.0167°E / 23.4000; 89.0167. It has 19773 households and total area 165.66 km². It is the south west part of Bangladesh. It is under Jhenaidah district. Our Kotchandpur is surrounded by three upzilla, in the east "Kaliganj", in the south-west "Moheshpur" and in the north "Jhenaidah" sadar. There are two rivers cross Kotchandpur. One is the Kopothakho River (also called Kobadak, Kabadak, and Kapotaksma), which crosses the town and another is the Chitra, which forms the northern border of Kotchandpur. This city is very close to India. Once it is famous for sugar. It is also famous for Boluhor Fish Project.
Demographics
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Kotchandpur has a population of 107193. Males constitute 51.4% of the population, and females 48.6%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 54897. Kotchandpur has an average literacy rate of 26.9% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.
Administration
Kotchandpur has one pouroshova and 5 Unions, 114 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 79 villages.
Politics
Municipality Mayor : Mr S K M Salahuddin Bulbul (Sedol) is the current Mayor of the Municipality (Pourasava). He was elected in year 2003 and serving his second term. Mr Salahuddin Bulbul is son of two times previously elected Chairman of the Kotchandpur Municipality (Pourasava) Late A K M Serajul Haque (Siru Mia). Mr Salahuddin also holds important political position in Thana and District level.
Upozila Chairman : Md.Ekramul Haque. He was in politics for 20 years, under the banner of the opposition party of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (2009–still now). He is one of the most successful Chairman in the history of Kotchandpur upozila. Member of the Parliament (MP): Now Mr. Nabi Newaz, a prominent philanthropist, very popular people's friend and Bangladesh Awami League leader is the MP of the Kotchandpur and Moheshpur.
Education
There are six colleges in the upazila. They include Government K. M. H. College, founded in 1969, Kotchandpur Poura Mohila College, G. T. College Talsar, and S. D. Degree College.
The madrasa education system includes one kamil madrasa.
