Taylor County

KY 462 begins at an intersection with KY 210 (Campbellsville Road) west-northwest of Badger, within the northwestern part of Taylor County. It travels to the north-northeast and curves to the southeast. It travels along the LaRue County line. It enters Badger, where it heads to the east-northeast. It curves to the north-northeast and temporarily re-enters Taylor County proper. When it rejoins the county line, it heads to the northeast. It again slips back into Taylor County proper. After it rejoins the county line, it begins to curve to the northeast. When the highway curves to the north-northeast, it enters LaRue County.

LaRue and Nelson counties

KY 462 intersects the western terminus of KY 1511 (Social Band Road). It curves to the northeast and then to the north-northwest. It travels through Attilla and curves to the north-northeast. It winds its way to the west and curves to the north-northwest. Then, it begins to parallel Christie Creek. The highway then leaves the creek and curves to the northeast. It crosses over Rolling Fork, where it enters Nelson County. The highway curves to the north-northwest and meets its northern terminus, an intersection with KY 84 (Stiles Road).
