History

Turning the pages of the Kedia History, we gather that our ancestor Mundal Ji came to village Mundal in the year 1053 and stayed for 27 years. In the year 1080 he ascended to heaven and his four wives, worshipping him as God, jumped into the funeral fire and gave away their lives. The four wives of Mundal Ji named Khemi, Toli, Thukri and Santokhi had a son Seuram Ji and a daughter. Radha and Seuram Ji had a son named Sevaram. The twelfth generation of Mundal Ji had two sons- Pahuram Ji and Bholaram Ji. Due to some tensions between them and the ruler of Mandal in the year 1458, they decided to leave Mundal and settle someplace else. During their search they met a dacoit Jabardi Khan and a “Jaat” Budhram Bangadura, who also joined them. All four of them along with a priest moved together in search of a new place to form a new city altogether. They noticed a strange thing when they reached a Doongri. They saw that a cow was feeding her baby on a sand heap, and a black snake underneath that heap was trying to bite that cow. As soon as he reached the cow, he fell down unconscious and the cow threw him down. Such an incident moved their minds and hearts and they decided to settle at that holy place. They thought that no other place on earth could be better than this and the priest agreed with them. On Thursday, Baisakh Shukla Baaras, Sambat 1515 (Year 1458), they dug the ground and buried a “kair” stick. They performed all the rituals of forming a new village according to Hindu religion and named the village Ked. The power to rule was given in the hands of Jabardi Khan and the two brothers- Pahuram Ji and Bholaram Ji, kept the management of the people and other affairs onto themselves.

As the years passed by, many Kedia’s started settling to various nearly located towns and cities in search of job and earnings. Along with moving to different places they adopted different surnames according to their new residences or work but they all are reckoned as Kedias.
