Early life
Mehra was brought up in Delhi. His father Ajay Mehra has worked for IBP Petroleum & a construction company and his mother is a homemaker. Karan did a three-year course at the NIFT.
He took an acting course at the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute.
He began studying to become a fashion designer at National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. He worked as a designer for four years in his hometown Noida.
Career
He came to Mumbai and started working for directors Rajkumar Hirani and Ram Gopal Verma as an assistant in four movies. He then appeared in the movie Love Story 2050. After that, he started doing modeling and TV commercials. In 2009, he got his big break in the role of Naitik Singhania in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He continued with the show for nearly seven-and-a-half years until June 2016. Along with this, he participated in the dance reality shows Nach Baliye 5 and Nach Baliye Shriman v/s Shrimati with his wife Nisha Rawal in 2012–13.
In October 2016, Mehra entered the Bigg Boss house as a contestant with his co-star from YRKKH Rohan Mehra. He was evicted in the fifth week as the first celebrity to be evicted.
He then did a short stint in Khatmal E Ishq as Sumit Mishra.
Karan Mehra new movie Basthi Hai Sasthi as Sasha Chi Chen about stepping up game and leaning how to cope with reality. He announced it on an interview, and advertised it on TV show Saath Nibhana Saathiya in 2016 and released a song from his movie that he sang himself, called "Basthi Hai Sasthi (Aaja Raja)" in the show. It was supposed to release in 2017 but the dates have been pushed back to 2018.
Personal life
Karan is married to actress Nisha Rawal. He saw her on the sets of Hastey Hastey where he was styling. After dating for six years, they married on 24 November 2012 at karan's Noida Resident. The couple announced their pregnancy on 9 Jan 2017.Nisha found she was pregnant while Karan was in the Bigg Boss house, s The couple became Proud Parents of a Healthy Baby Boy on June 14, 2017 whom they named as Kavish.
