Kandhkot (Urdu: كندھ كوٹ), (Sindhi: کنڌھ کوٽ) is a city and tehsil in Kashmore District in the Sindh province of Pakistan. The Headquarter is Kandhkot.The Kandhkot is the 14th Largest City of Pakistan and the 7th Largest City of the Province of Sindh. The city is major hub for the grain and cattle industry. The Anaj mandi (Grain market) of Kandhkot is said to be the second largest grain market of Asia.not only people living there but people from near by villages work in grain market.

Kashmore lies to its east, Tangwani to its north, Shikarpur to the west, and the Indus River to the south, which links it with Ghotki District. Some social organizations based in Kandhkot are, such as, 'Education Development Organization', 'Human Resource Development Initiative' and 'Kainnat Welfare Association'. Gas and oil field
Kandhkot Gas Field was discovered in 1959. Kandhkot Gas Field’s reserves are concentrated in the Habib Rahi Limestone, Sui Main and Upper Limestone reservoirs. Although Kandhkot Gas Field was discovered shortly after Sui gas field, production did not begin until 1983 due to low gas demand.
Education
There are approximately 25 private schools operating in Kandhkot some with higher importance are Saint Johns Grammar School,Beacon Light Grammar school and Model high school. Education for the medical students is given till 12th class but after 12 there is not a single private university to study and because of non availability of business education commerce Student mostly migrate to urban areas after 8th standard or matric class. Lack of higher educated teachers is also a big problem for the city.This lackage is causing backwardness for the city.Persons who can't afford to send their children to urban areas don't educate their children which is not good for any country's economy
Literacy Rate
Literacy rate is quite high. Even the poor people educate their children till matric otherwise the rich persons send their children to urban areas for higher education. 70% of residents working in grain market are qualified.
