History

KZOK signed on in 1964 as KTW-FM and simulcasted KTW-AM (now KKDZ). The station's formats in their early years included top 40 for 9 months, then a country format they called "The Nashville Sound", talk radio (1965–1971), religious (1971–1974), progressive rock (1974–1975; 1974 was when they picked up the KZOK calls), AOR (1975–1985), and mellow rock/AAA (1985-1986); the current format debuted in October 1986. They are one of three classic rock/hits outlets targeting the Puget Sound region, with Bellingham's KISM-FM and Seattle's KJR-FM being the other two.

In 1994, Chrysler Capital Corporation sold KZOK to EZ Communications. EZ would be bought out by American Radio Systems in July 1997, with ARS merging with Infinity Broadcasting in September of that year. Infinity would be renamed CBS Radio in December 2005.
